Signing of an Agreement between SODEC and Film Fund Luxembourg

Cannes, 16 May 2026 – Société de développement des entreprises culturelles (SODEC) and Film Fund Luxembourg (FFL) signed a three-year cooperation agreement last Saturday in Cannes. This agreement aims to establish a joint strategic collaboration to stimulate the creation, production and distribution of cinematographic, television and digital creation works between the two territories. The agreement was signed by Louise Lantagne, President and Chief Executive Officer of SODEC, by Guy Daleiden, Director of Film Fund Luxembourg, as well as by the Minister of Culture and Communications of Quebec, Mr Mathieu Lacombe, and by the Minister of Culture of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Mr Eric Thill, acting as honorary witnesses.

"The vitality of the Quebec audiovisual industry is a priority for the Government of Quebec. By strengthening its attractiveness, we are supporting a sector that carries our stories, our culture and our collective pride. I am therefore delighted with the signing of this co-production agreement with the creators and producers of Luxembourg, which paves the way for promising collaborations," stated Mr Mathieu Lacombe, Minister of Culture and Communications.

"This agreement strengthens the cultural and economic ties between Luxembourg and Quebec, and should enable artisans and professionals from the Quebec and Luxembourg audiovisual sector to generate new opportunities to develop projects, showcase them in their respective markets, and join forces to market them internationally," declared Ms Louise Lantagne, President and Chief Executive Officer of SODEC.

For its part, Luxembourg highlighted the importance of this partnership in fostering artistic exchange and cooperation between the audiovisual industries.

"The dynamism and international recognition that the Luxembourg audiovisual scene enjoys today are based on its ability to create strong partnerships that are open to the world. In an audiovisual landscape in transition, this agreement with Quebec will offer new opportunities for professionals in the audiovisual sector to develop ambitious international projects," welcomed Eric Thill, Minister of Culture.

"Quebec is the only territory outside Europe with which Luxembourg regularly co-produces. This privileged relationship is explained by a strong cultural affinity and a shared desire to support ambitious projects from the very early stages of development. This new agreement will consolidate an already fruitful collaboration and pave the way for even bolder co-productions," added Guy Daleiden, Director of Film Fund Luxembourg.

Through this agreement, SODEC and Film Fund Luxembourg notably commit to financially supporting the co-development and co-production of ambitious works, promoting them in their respective territories and encouraging participation in professional networking activities. The measures outlined in this agreement will be implemented within the framework of an action plan. It is also worth recalling that Quebec and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg signed, in October 2021, an agreement on cultural cooperation aimed at supporting initiatives and encouraging cooperation as well as cultural and expertise exchanges.
