Telefilm Canada invests in 21 feature-length documentaries

Following the latest funding decisions under its Production Programand as part of its Theatrical Documentary Program, Telefilm Canada is investing $4.27 million in 21 projects, including nine films from the French market,11 films from the English market and one film from the Indigenous stream.

The funded projects reflect the richness of Canadian documentary filmmaking and showcase a wide range of subjects, perspectives and artistic approaches. Produced across the country, they explore personal and collective stories that reflect the diversity of viewpoints, realities and issues shaping our world, while resonating with audiences across Canada.

A total of 136 applications were evaluated in this funding round, representing $31,519,583 in funding requests. Among the applications received, six post-production projects stood out and were selected for funding.

An Advisory Committee evaluated the projects and made recommendations to Telefilm. The decision-making process reflects Telefilm’s commitment to fostering a diversity of voices within the industry by supporting a balanced production portfolio that represents a range of genres, budgets, company sizes, regions across the country and perspectives. The names of the Advisory Committee members will be published on the Advisory Committees for Project Financing Applications webpage once all funding decisions for this fiscal year have been made.
