Five Spanish production companies without international co-production experience to be selected for access to the Berlinale Co-Production Market
Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade, ICEX (Instituto Español de Comercio Exterior), in collaboration with the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts, ICAA (Instituto de la Cinematografía y de las Artes Audiovisuales), invites Spanish film production companies with a project in development to submit their applications for the Visitors Programme at the Berlinale Co-Production Market, which will be held in Berlin from 13 to 16 February 2027 as part of the activities of the 77th edition of the major Berlin festival.
The Programme is aimed at production companies with a film project — fiction, animation or documentary — or a fiction series project that have no previous experience in international co-production.
The objective is to provide tools, contacts and knowledge to facilitate the development of audiovisual projects in collaboration with production companies and financiers from other countries, and access to international markets.
The Berlinale Co-Production Market will bring together around 600 production companies and financiers in Berlin, as well as representatives of national funds. In this context, the producers of the selected projects will be able to attend conferences by experts in fiction, animation and documentary film who will provide new references and ideas to guide the projects.
The five production companies selected for the Visitors Programme will be able to access financial support and a schedule of activities that includes:
- Grants of up to 250 euros for return travel from Spain, and up to 600 euros for accommodation, with a maximum of four hotel nights (the Berlinale Co-Production Market will be held from 13 to 16 February next year).
- Five-minute speed datings with production companies, financiers and representatives of national funds present at the market.
- International co-production sessions (country sessions) to learn about the conditions, incentives and collaboration frameworks of different countries.
- Networking activities with international professionals and companies to establish contacts and explore new business opportunities.
- An online practical preparation workshop and the possibility of accessing individual consultations with experts, subject to availability.
- Additional accreditation for the European Film Market (EFM), which will allow attendance at professional sessions, masterclasses and other film industry activities.
The deadline for submitting applications closes on Friday 30 October 2026.
The call forms part of the initiatives by ICEX and ICAA to strengthen the international presence of Spanish audiovisual companies and favour their incorporation into global film production and financing networks.
